Key West, Florida is one of the chillest, laid back beach towns with tons to see and do.
My first suggestion is to park your car and rent a scooter! It’s so much easier to get around and a heck of a lot more fun!
Once you have your scooter you’ll want to hit up the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. They are open 9am to 5pm and it’s $12.00 per adult and $8.50 per child to enter the Conservatory. It is a really cool experience because butterflies might suddenly land on you while you’re walking through their peaceful habitat. Look out for cute birds like flamingos wandering around as well!
Next stop is the home of one of the greatest authors of all time, Ernest Hemingway. The Hemingway Home is open 9am to 5pm and they run 30 minute tours for $14.00 per adult and $6.00 per child. I’m usually not one for tours but this tour was really informative and highly entertaining. I learned that the Hemingway Home is home to almost 50 polydactyl (six-toed) cats! Ernest himself was gifted a white polydactyl cat by a Captain and now some of the cat’s descendants still roam the grounds. (Strong genetics!)
Last but certainly not least you MUST see a Key West Sunset. Head down to Mallory Square and grab a spot on the pier to witness one of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see!
